• once and for all - ripper or 5.0

ok guys and gals,

thunder racing has the ripper - $159.99
or Pro 5.0 - $179.99 - $5 (i don't know why)
=$175.99

which one should i get, and why, the votes will be tallied and i will act accordingly...

one thing, i do like the idea of having a short stick...

but its up to you guys

thanks
ian

i like the pro 5.0 for one reason.. and one reason only..

it bends the stick back into the passenger side and recenters the ball so its not at that funny angle anymore..

if you are tall 6'3"+ it makes it alot easyer to get in and out of the car.. i think that the short stick reverses this effect so.. dont get it uless you want it digging into your hip..

I'm 6'3" and I have the Ripper and love it. I've never tried the Pro 5.0. I have used the hurst shifter however and I love my Ripper so much better. You can really feel the car with the Ripper when shifting.

I had the Ripper in my 3.8L Camaro and liked it.
I have the Pro 5.0 in my WS6 now and like it.
The Ripper is smoother, but the Pro 5.0 has better engagement. Plus if the 5spd Pro 5.0 is anything like the one for the 6spd, you get a lot of threads on the stick which you can cut down pretty short.

Pro 5.0 all the way. I cut mine down too, had more threads on there than needed. Both are good, I doubt there will be a real "better" decision, but I chose the Pro 5.0 because it looked beefier, might be shorter (never seen real evidence either way) and also becuase i dotn really like B&M in general. Please understand everyone that has voted is not voting for which one is better, just for what they have, either one is going to be a million times better than the stocker, so save yourself 15 bucks, you wont be dissatisfied.

I almost bought the Pro-5 but chose the Ripper because it cost less and everything I had read about it on this board was very positive. The install was easy, and the instructions very good. With any aftermarket shifter the isolation of sound is not quite as good as the rubbery stock shifter. You may hear some gear noise/sound from time to time. Get either shifter and you will be very happy, I vote for the Ripper!

i still have the stock shifter in my car, but have tried both the ripper & pro 5.0, albeit in 2001 'stangs.

IMO the pro 5.0 feels like it engages the gears more solidly, but also allows more noise into the vehicle than the ripper. i'll definitly be getting the pro 5.0

trying out the ripper/pro 50 before buying, is definitly a plus
