Ive heard that the torque converter is only used on automatics? is this true? if so would it be a good mod?

yea, t/c is only on automatics
and if you get one, yea, it is a very good mod
it improves your torque and efficiency
and just to clear it up...when someone says stall, it means that you hold the brakes, hit the gas and your tires will only start moving once you hit the stall
i.e. if i have a 3200 stall, i can hold the brakes and rev til 3200 rpms and only when it gets up to 3200 rpms, the tires start breaking loose (moving)
and a stall torque ratio (str) is usually around 2.2 to 2.5 for most people. this str means that it multiplies the torque out of the engine either 2.2 times or 2.5 times. and the higher you go with that, the worse gas mileage

hopefully thats enough info for you ;)

yes, TC's are only for auto's. I'd say stick with or get an auto for everything except auto X or road racing. A TC can give a auto a lot of life off the line. 1/2 second gains ibn the 1/4 have been seen, if you can keep from burning the tires up when u launch.

Please read that and learn about the drivetrain in an automatic some k? It'll help you ask more specific questions.
