  • Tranny mount *UPDATED*

I broke my tranny mount and was looking for a polyurethane replacement, is this the right one?

    http://www.lmperformance.com/3113/2.html

I heard that the V8 mounts would work, is that right?

    UPDATE:

I installed the mount and the tranny sat too low without a spacer. I ghetto rigged up some washers so it sits at the right height.

I also had to modify the crossmember so the mount would line up properly.

Also is it supposed to feel like my car is coming apart? I knew I would get an increase in vibration, but it seriously feels like my car is now falling apart.

I'd do a thread search on polyurethane mounts before you buy one, if you haven't already ... I was looking around about a month ago (just as a possible upgrade), and noticed the poly mount drops the transmission like an inch ... plus you get added noise and vibration.

From what I understand, though, the V8 and V6 mounts are interchangeable.

Just noticed this thread down a little further with some stuff to think about: http://www.camarov6.com/cgi-bin/ulti...&f=23&t=002192

I just put a poly mount on, here's the skinny: Yes, you do get a good amount of vibration, so if you can't handle that, don't get the poly mount.
As to it fitting, it may be a bit taller, good2bking said an inch, another guy said 1/2", regardless, it's not enough to make a huge difference.
Here's the fun part. Our stock (V6) mount is offset to the rear, meaning that top side (the side that mounts to the transmission) is about an inch or so forward of where the bottom mounts to the crossmember. To get mine in, I had to elongate the hole in the crossmember forward. Hope that helps.

This is why people take them out and use a 1LE.

One thing about the 1LE trans mount....I looked it up in my illustrated parts breakdown, and there isn't a seperate p/n for the 1LEs, they use the stock trans mount. And, the V8 mount runs like $40 from gmpartsdirect.com. I also saw a post the other day from Sam Strano, and he was saying that recently, GM quit putting different bushings in the 1LE parts, that they use the stock bushings now. So, if you order a 1LE trans mount, unless you know it's an early one, you may be paying extra for a stock mount.
Camaro_Speedemon, yes, that's the mount that I used. And yes, the car feels like it's falling apart. Just wait until you get to go through all of the different gear and rpm ranges, you'll be amazed at how much our engine really vibrates. As one guy said, these mounts will make you regular :D .

I'm not saying anything bad about it, just wanted to make sure that my car feeling like a 3000lb vibrator was normal. I do get a nice butt massage now. I can't wait until one of my female friends rides in my car, hehe ;)

Actually once you get used to it, it feels like your car has more of a 'seat of the pants feel' from a stop, maybe because I'm so used to driving with a broken mount(I'll post some pictures once I can use my friends camera, hehe I toasted the old one :D ), but my car feels torquier in first and second gear.

If I take off easy and shift around 2500 you don't really feel the vibrations that bad, most people probably wouldn't even notice.

I do have the energy suspension poly tranny mount. I believe it had to be "modified" slightly as in drilling out a hole slightly. I did notice a lot more vibration initially but it settles after driving on it for some time, and you get used to it all in all mine is an auto so I don't have the shifter height problem but I am very pleased, the vibration worried me at first though!
