  • New clutch and installation Anyone???

:casstet: I wrote this once and closed my browser :casstet:
Whats going on is while in motion i go into medium or heavy acceleration. The RPMs jump way up, but the car doesnt react. Everyone I've talked to (including myself) has said that it is the clutch. Ouch. Now for the dilemna...

At the shop I go to, the guy says $450. I plain and simple ain't got it. I was looking on AMM and saw the clutch disc and pressure plate for $299. do I need both? Just the clutch disc is $129. This is for the SPEC stage 1 kit. 299 is better than 450, but 129 is even better!

ALSO, could I install this on my own (well, my self and my brother). I've got lots of experience under the hood, but the drivetrain is new for me. My brother is rebuilding a 77 trans am, but I'm not sure if he's messed much with the drivetrain either. We've got lots of tools, but if it needs special tools, then I'm out like a fat kid in dodge ball!

Suggestions? Clutches for sell? Let me know!!! I wanna do this soon!

get the whole kit.. using a new clutch plate and keeping the ole pressure plate must means you are gonna have to change the pressure plate sooner rather than later..

yeah if you can do some mechanic work and are decently mechanically inclined then I don't see why you can't do it yourself..

My dad says that since he's paying for it then we're just gonna get a kit from auto zone-- $149. Keep letting me know if you've installed one before or whatever.
