I have a 2001 M5 and I am going to 3.73 gears with limited slip. My friend has a 97 firebird and when he spins out on wet pavement his speedometer will shoot up to like 90. Mine won't. I've been in 5th gear at 4500 and my speedometer will say how fast I'm actually going. Does that mean my speedometer works off of the front tires, and if so will it still be off if I change gears?

thats not nessarily a good thing or something i would strive for... the sender for the speedometer is not in the tires or anything, its in the transmission. if you are spinning it WILL read higher then you are actually going. there is no way it cannot. he is just spinning more then you are... thats all.
