    i can swap an auto trans from a 2000 camaro into my 97 right? there are no different parts? and if my transmission went out, would i want a new torque converter also?

        if you get a new torque conveter, it'd give you chance to get one that stalls the car at a higher rpm.

          A higher stall converter will give you more off the line power, resulting in better '60 times at the track if you run it. You'll have more low end grunt, and if you get one that's configured right you won't sacrifice any top end power.
