  • trans leak...

A friend of mine has a 99 Z28 that is leaking trans fluid from the front of the car. I helped him replace the B&M Trans cooler recently, and that has taken care of about 90% of the leak. But there is still a leak in the front of the car. all hoses to the trans cooler are tight and the hoses are new. I am beginning to suspect the radiator is leaking?!

    OK. so Heres my question:

I know coolant goes through the radiator... but so does trans fluid? Does the trans fuild go through a different radiator? It looks like there are 2 radiators up front...

    any suggestions or comments?

I'm pretty sure in a tranny cooler, it is tranny fluid in the radiator. The engine itself uses coolent, because that flows though the block, cooling it. With a tranny cooler, the fluid from the tranny flows though the radiator/cooler, let it bleed of its heat that way.

So in short, yes, I'm pretty sure the fluid does go through the tranny cooler radiator.
