• Will the rear end off of a 99ss work on my 97

A friend is putting a mosler 12 bolt on his 99ss and selling his rear end, will it work on my 97 bird, if not why?, Thanks

Yes, and everything shoult bolt right up directly too. Only thing I am not positive about is whether you have drum brakes in the rear or if he has Traction Control and you do not. Anyone know?

Yep he has traction control, and i have drum brakes. he said it should work just the traction control won't work.

I wasn't sure if it would work, i though i remembered reading somewhere that rear ends from the 99 ups wouldn't work on th 93-98. Guess i was on crack

Well here is my two cents. I bought a Z28 rear end off of a wrecked 97Z. Everybody said it would just "Mount Right Up" It didn't. It had different wiring for the ABS controllers and the TCS controllers. The hook-ups didn't match. Allso if you have drums brakes in back, your brake lines are going to match up. Your going to have to do some custome work messin around with that. But if you do decide to hook it up, and figure out the brakes. Your still going to have the problem with malfunction ABS. People told me I could have complete loss of it, or the brakes could just perminately lock up. After I did all that investigation into it. I thought it was pretty much to swap out rear ends. I just took out the gears and had somebody install them into my carrier. Now I am left with a Z28 rear end w/out gears. I hope this helped you out. If you have any other questions on stuff that I really didn't cover, just shoot me a email. rmsanta@yahoo.com
