that trip will be a great break in period. my mechanic told me 200 miles should do it if i wanted to break them in, but he has had people bust out of his shop like they just robbed the place as soon as they picked up thier car.6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

Normal break in is 500 "normal, moderate" driving. This means no beating on the car, no long HWY trips. You can drive in the city (55MPH) type stuff.
If you don't follow this rule, you run the chance of starting the wrong wear pattern on the gears.
NOTE: I just saw again.... you have 177 mile trip home. (been a long day) but you should drive about 30 minutes then let the car cool for 15 minutes. This will help, but will make for a long drive home. Why so far for install?????

Yeah I live in Utah, IM driving to a shop in Idaho. Its a guy from our Utah Fbody Association that is doing my gear swap. Everyone says he does great work and he is giving me a good price. Its about $200 cheaper than any other shop so I had to do it.
He told me to drive 55MPH for about 30 miles, then stop for a few min. Then drive normal. He said that should be a good break in but not to beat on them for a while. That sound right?

What if you put used gears in your car... should you still go easy on them for 500 miles?1997 silver Camaro RS
|T-Type Powered|
Looking for a local F-Body club in K/W, Ontario, Canada?
