Anyone know? They cost more to make, and are less strong. Is it because an angle is needed or because of resonate frequencies or what?

I believe the first ones that GM used it on was the '58s and it was because the length of the vehicle and the angle from the end of the trans to the rear end would not allow that to happen, and now the use of them on the V6s because of the transfer of vibrations. -

Yup, to absorb unwanted vibrations
But, when I upgraded to a 1 piece design I saw no gain in vibrations, weird huh?
