  • Torsen vs. Auburn LSD

Are there any real-world performance differences between the Auburn and Torsen LSD's? Are these differences worth going from one type to the other?

That's a really good page. Sounds like he's a real fan of Torsens.

        i hear auburn is faster
but clutches wear out every 30k i think

        zexel (worm gear) torsen
wont wear out for long long time
can only stand up to 500hp/tq

        powertrax puts down power
        but isnt good for turns

        i'd get zexel torsen

don't have time to read the article tonoght but what about an Eaton? I have one awaiting the money for install and it would be intresting to know how it would perform. I thought all diffs were the same.

also arn't there 2 kinds of torsen's? the regular one that many here have and then like one for autocross or road racing or something? I saw something about it on www.frrax.com

            There's the standard T-2 and then there's the T-2R.

T2 is better(depending on your application)
              regular zexel torsen worm gear

although i think the t-2r applys power quicker(from takeoff)
i think the t-2r is not as good as t-2 for turns.

I keep hearing that, but I've got 202K miles on mine and it still works great... or is the OEM LSD an Eaton?

                  No, Zexel.

                  Zexel - worm gear.
                  Auburn - clutch.
                  Eaton - clutch.

What do you think , which one would last longer?

I think the later years had zexels because mine definately is a clutch type. I look at it every time I do my diff fluid.
