  • possible converter problems

    about a year ago i bought a 3000 stall converter from a guy off this board(bluecamaro) i think his name now is slowbraeater. anyway. i have been doing alot more drag racing and i think this converter is killing my topend. my off the line is great, but once my car hit 3rd gear it falls on it face. now i don't have any track times with my stock converter. i run 9.6@70mph. with all my mods i should be around 74 mph.

    also i think the specs on the conveter are 2.1 str and 97%efficent. he told me it was a yank, don't all yank converter come in red. my convter is blue..
    should i put the stock one back in and see if my topend improves or what

    Wait how are you gonna say the converter i sent you is blue? Thats real fu*8ed up it was red when i put it in the box and shipped it. Email me a pic of this , i am quite sure i didnt paint it blue, i mean my car was blue i very well could have but honestly dont 100% remember but am almost positive i didnt paint it. It was a while ago when i sent it to you so my memory is fuzzy but i am quite sure i didnt paint it, it is a yank converter, if you dont believe me call mike at yank and ask if i bought a tc from him about a year or so ago, guarantee he has it on file, that will prove it is a yank, thats real fu**ed up you are questioning me about what it is, real fu*8ed up

      and for the record before you go saying to mike" did he buy a 3000 stall" I told you it was advertised 2800 but stalled at 3000 for me so you took it as the converter is automatically a 3000

        i believe what slowbraeater is saying, it doesn't appear to be a lie, so let's not turn this post into a war; however, there is still a problem at present. and yes, i think going back to stock for a little while would be a wise choice. i am not saying it will be easy or cheap, but it will definetely tell you whether or not the problem lies in the converter.

          hey man i might have have come off as jerk. i highly stress that i'm not starting crap here. i love your converter and i can roast the tires off the line. i'm at the point though were i need to find out why i have no topend. i want you to understand that i'm not calling you out. i'm just looking into everything to findout my problems.

          and yes i'm 100% sure the converter blue. i'll send you a pic if you like. my stock one is grey.

          but i just want to make it very clear that i'm not flaming you or starting anything...
