  • Kevlar, carbon or ceramic pads?

So im now shopping for a clutch and I notice that most performance clutches come with a choice of Kevlar, carbon or ceramic pads. Which one is best and what is the difference between the 3? Is there one that last longer than another? Which one should I get on my Spec clutch?

Read the Modification Encyclopedia... i think CenterForce Dual friction is one of the best to consider...

Centerforce Dual Friction for 3.4 - the part number for the clutch pressure plate and disc is DF504965 and the part number for the throwout bearing is N1716. Price directly from Centerforce is $434 for the clutch and $39 for the throwout bearing, but you can find these cheaper at racing supply shops.

Centerforce Dual Friction for 3.8 - the part number for the clutch pressure plate and disc is DF504076 and the part number for the throwout bearing is N1777. Price is about $325 for the pressure plate and disc and $63 for the throwout bearing.

Ram for 3.4 and 3.8 - Ram makes OEM replacement and high performance clutches both for the 3.4 and the 3.8. Check out their website for details and part numbers.

So does anybody actually have any knowledge about these different MATERIALS? I wanna know what the benefits/disadvantages of each is. Noone would wanna buy a set of brake pads without knowing what each material is and what is helps/hurts. ANYBODY?

                I don't, but here is a tip

On general subjects or things that are common between v8's & v6's (like suspension), check out ls1.com, ls1tech.com, or cz28.com

ls1.com alone has 35k members, much more info flying around over there.

Email or call SPEC. They have GREAT customer service. They've helped me via phone and email.

I had a ceramic clutch put into my camaro on Friday and I HATE it. The clutch engagement is extremely harsh. When I let the clutch pedal out, there is a lot of chatter, and the car shakes really bad. I,m having it replaced tommorrow with a kevlar disk.
