I would do a search and type in P1870, a LOT will come up. There are several things it could be. Best case senario, it is just the pulse valve and Transgo sells a $50 kit to fix it. Worst case, it is the valve body. That is about $400+ any labor, or if you can find a place to do it you can just get it bored and resleaved much cheaper. When I got that code, mine was the valve body. I have heard it can also be things like the TCC regulator valve, and pressure control solenoid. It's been brought up several times so I would just search around. As far as I know, if it is doing it in the lower gears, it is the pulse valve, higher gears it is the valve body.
Hope some of that helps.

We get at least two or three 4L60E's a month with a p1870 code. there is a pulse valve upgrade we do to correct the problem. transgo sells an upgrade kit take it to any tranny shop and there know exactly what to look for. it's very common02 Firebird NX wet kit, MAFT,Coated pacesetter headers,ORP, Borla catback, !fra, whisper lid,NGK TR6\', taylor wires, hpp3, autometer gauges, 30th and 35th stripes, macewen silver gauge overlay, painted interior and calipers, ww spoiler, transgo shift kit, corvette servo, BMR stb, boxed lower control arms, custom subframe connectors

first the tranny guy put a spring from a 700 pump in and then i put a high stall converter in and the problem went away, only cost 80.00 for the spring to be put in and since your tc is new i bet its the spring like the guy above is talkin aboutLongtubes, true duals, ram air, caspers tps tec, ls1 26lb injectors, supersix powerpack, heads milled .020, comp cam .507 220/224 114 ls, forged internals and chromeoly pushrods, bored .030 over, tb spacer, tranny built with stiffer springs and kevlar bands, bigger servo, transgo stage 3 shift kit, edge 3600 stall, 1 pc aluminum ds, 3.73 superior gears, lsd rear ,custom pcm tuning, walbro 255 in tank,

Thanks magnus, we install a transgo shift kit minus the servo which is a pain to get to on the car. most of the 4L60E's we get in with the p1870 are pickups but I've done at lest 9 or 10 f-bodies. We also replace the pulse width modulator solenoid and do a service. the price we charge is around $325.00. The price will vary in other places. we charge $63.00 an hour for labor here in phoenix02 Firebird NX wet kit, MAFT,Coated pacesetter headers,ORP, Borla catback, !fra, whisper lid,NGK TR6\', taylor wires, hpp3, autometer gauges, 30th and 35th stripes, macewen silver gauge overlay, painted interior and calipers, ww spoiler, transgo shift kit, corvette servo, BMR stb, boxed lower control arms, custom subframe connectors

Superior Transmission also sells a kit that gets rid of the pulse width modulated TCC apply, and converts it to an straight on-off apply.
I have been having problems with my TCC not locking up, and it finally popped the code in December.
Also, the tranny in my car was replaced under warranty just before I bought it, and it's already having problems again (about 55,000 miles later).
There are also various other kits available to fix the various other quirks and problems on the 4L60E. I was looking at $425 to install them, and would have had to pull the tranny to do it. The transmission guy I was talking to said he can do a rebuild, including installing the fix kits, for $1100. It's not really that much more than just installing the fix kits, and it's extra insurance.
My advice is to definitely get your tranny fixed at a non-GM shop, because they will only install parts that will end up with the same problem another 30,000, 40,000, or 50,000 miles down the road.
I have dealt with Chevy's customer service on a couple of issues, including the tranny, which has a service bulletin, so Chevy knows about it, but Chevy will either give you another tranny with the same problems if you're under warranty, or blow you off if you're no longer under warranty.Wife and a dog, they both think they\'re Kujo.<br /> <br />1999 3.8 A4 Y87<br />Navy Blue Metallic<br />BFG G-Force KDWS 275/40/17s, <br />WS6 Wheels (17x9)<br />Phoenix Transmissions 2400 Stall Converter<br />FRA, Holley Powershot filter, Whisper Lid, Ported Throttlebody<br />2000 manifolds, Flowmaster, WS6 Tail Pipes, <br />MSD 8.5mm Wires, MSD Coils, Autolite plugs<br />Performance Cryogenics treated rotors<br />1LE Sway Bars and panhard rod, 1LE front springs w/SLP Bilsteins, stock rear springs w/ 3rd Gen Bilsteins, BMR STB, KBDD SFCs, 1LE rear lower control arms, 1LE front lower control arms<p>1968 Chevelle Malibu 327 TH350
