  • Possible internal tranny damage, pictures

I bought a 4L60E from a totalled 96' camaro with less than 44k on it. The guy who sold it did not know if it was operable or not. I am rebuilding it with a few performance upgrades. I am working on the oil pump right now, and noticed what looks like damage. I have never taken apart a transmission before, and the rebuild manual doesn't give a good diagram of this part. So, does anyone know if this is damaged, or is it safe to reuse?

That is just casting from the factory the pump washer rides there and covers it up.
