What's the Difference...

...between a reluctor ring and a ring gear spacer? Do I need one or both?

I have a 1998 3.8 A4 with 3.08 gears (series 2, right?). I'm buying a Series 3 LSD and 3.73s.

What will take me from series 2 to 3 for the LSD to work?

A spacer is to let you run a series 3 gear on a series 2 differential.

The ABS reluctor ring goes around the outside of the diff for ABS brakes.

You're getting a new diff and gears, so you don't need the spacer. You do, however, need the reluctor ring for a series 3 diffy (get it from SLP).
