  • Clutch trouble

Driving around my clutch will randomly stick in and i have to pull it out it happens only when i am in gear. I say it happens 2 out of 10 times i use my clutch. Also last night I pulled into a parking lot and stopped and was gonna put my car in neutral and it wouldnt come out of first and the clutch was all the way to the floor I had to let is stall then pull the clutch out and then it went into gear just fine??

    Whats the problem? :(

      How much does it cost??

Also should I try bleeding the clutch a few times before anything?? Is there a write up on how to do it anywhere?

I got a new one from GMpartsdirect for $120 shipped a few days ago...

install... well sort of easy... jsut a stupid u-bolt and a few quick connections, I just for the love of god could not get the bolt in. Alot of peopel have had problems with it. I tore my hands up trying eventually a friend of mine with smaller hands got it in for me.

BUT I highly suggest to check this...
        http://www.camarov6.com/ubb/ultimate...;f=23;t=004197

mainly the bottom. and noticing you have a 99 makes it more likely to be a Clutch master... for more info on doing and diagnosing the clutch master problem.

go to www.ls1tech.com and do a search on "clutch master" in teh manual tranny section, lots of info and talk of similar symptoms to yours.

and btw unless your fluid is cooked I doubt bleeding will kill it.

2 things kill the fluid, heat or bad seal on clutch master.

clean is clear with a slight yellow tint...

bad is black, with a green tint, like you cannot see through it.

you shouldn't have air in it unless you have a problem...

if your fluid is crap, then you should try and replace it, which is sort of the bleed method but you put new fluid threw it...

no clue could just crap out on you at pretty much any given time, imo...

I'd call GM and ask first, have your vin ready. I suggest sound kind of pissed, and like you won't take anything but a new part, installed for free. See where that leads.

also local autostores sell them for cheaper, I just got a GM one because well I hate clutch problems, and figure get the wat I assume the best part.

maybe an hour to take it out do the drill mod, then put the new one in. With exception to the U-bolt.

Spent maybe 2-3 hours in attempt, off and on at differet times(car was in the garage, then a friend came over and got it in, in around 30-40 min.

If I could get to the bolt easily... would have taken me less then a minute to do the U-bolt.

go to www.installuniversity.com then search for drill mod...

shows how to do the mod, and decent write up on replacing the master cylinder.
