  • Best place to buy lsd/gears?

    Ok guys, I have a 99 auto camaro w/ 3.08 gears.

Looking to buy my first mods: 4.10 gears and a LSD.

What are the best online places to buy these from and also how much does the average install cost?

Also, what is the best software to tune the speedo after the install among other things?

From my research seems that HP Tuners is the best, yes yes?

Oh yeah, and also I would like to install a S/C some time down the line when the right price comes around for it,

Just to make sure from what I read on here 4.10 gears would work quite well with a S/C?

I would hate to pay to install 4.10s and then re-intall different gears.

www.summitracing.com www.jegs.com or most of the site sponsers carry the gears and lsd's. You are looking anywhere 100-400 to install depending on the shops rates. 4.10 will work with the charger, just make sure it's tuned right.

        www.ebay.com

for speedometer recalibration think about price and functionality.

SLP makes a speedometer recalibrator that you can find used for about $100. if you want to spend $500 or more and want a LOT more functionality, get HPTuners.

I'm thinking about HP Tuners because my brother also has a camaro, same year as me just a z-28.

I figured we can split the cost on it since it comes with two vin numbers.

It comes with an unlimited number of vins.

It does however, come with 2 vehicle options. In your case 1 for the V6 and 1 for the V8.

Summit or Jegs usually have the best prices, but you could find an eaton posi cheaper than either one of those places. Look in the back of a super chevy or chevy high performance mag. You could probably find a new eaton posi for less than 400 new if you shop around.

Another option is to go over to www.camaros.net. Its mainly a 1st gen site, but there is a guy who frequents the transmission section called Big Gear Head. His actual name is Freddie. He rebuilds rearends for a living and sells new posi units and gears for a great price. Everyone who has dealt with him have had all good things to say about him.
