  • Please Help!!...Car wont go into drive

    Hey guys...well, earlier today i started my car as usual but the car wouldn't shift into drive. The shift knob button was pretty hard to push in and seefs as if there was something in between the button and the spring...and when the button does go in, the knob wont go down into drive...i yanked on it a little and it only budges a little,it gets like 1/4 of the way to reverse...oh ant btw(i havent driven my car in about 3-4 days know and it does have 134k miles, dont know if that is relavent, but never had this prob before)...please help!! i need my car for work!

    does it go into any other gear? or it wont shift out of park?
    95 black 3.8 camaro, Intake, Pacesetters, Flowmaster 80 series, accel plugs and wires, B&M shift kit (eh could be better), hopefully a highflow cat soon. and a bunch of appearance mods.

        yeah i had the same problem over the winter. My shift cable snapped. IT started off as if i was shifting from drive to over drive the whole shifter would slip into neutral and was really tight. I thought it may have been the cold or something....It was like 20 bucks for a new one. I had triple A so they were able to tow it to the shop where i work for nothing.

          nice...that what my mechanic figured over the phone as well...hopefully thats the case

            Are you parked on a hill, maybe? Could be experiencing Torque Lock.

              thats a crazy idea but ive seen it happen
              help me build the ultimate sleeper soon ill have a lot more mods than i can list and watch out for the spikes. 02 firebird
