    Is it possible to have LSD stock without the y87 package?

    I went to get my oil changed and while I was there I had them change my differential fluid. Then they came back and said they were going to have to charge me more than originally said because I had LSD and they needed to put in a additive for it. Is this possible or did I get screwed out of some money?
    Modifications:<br />headers, throtle bod spacer, flowmaster, high flow magnaflow carsound cat, powerdyne sc with 2.9\" pulley and by-pass valve, walboro 255 fuel pump, spec stage 2 clutch, and HP Tuners

      The easy test is to burn out and see how many streaks of rubber you leave (1 or 2). I think you got screwed, though.
      1997 Camaro, Y87 Perf. Package, iRotor Drilled & Slotted Brakes, Bilstien Shocks, Custom drive shaft, K&N Filter, & Mobil 1 synthetic. 202+K miles and still drives like new.<br />-If you can\'t stomp \'em in the straights, kill \'em in the corners...

        Look for G80 on your RPO codes sticker. Or like rhouse said see if you are a one wheel wonder.

        If I were you and found out I didn't have a LSD and they charged me for the additive I would raise hell. Hope you still have your receipt.

          did they pull your cover to do the fluid? seems like most places just vacuum out the old and fill with new. never pulling the cover.

          they might have just assumed you had a z28, when they looked it up in their computers and it said you had lsd.

            No they didn't pull the cover so I have no idea how they would have known it had LSD or not.

            I don't think they assumed it was a Z28 because the guy was talking to me about the 3.8 and supercharger combo and if I liked it and other stuff like that.

              either way they might have assumed "high performance" with LSD...


              check for the code if you bought the car new, it will list G80.

                  All the shop had to do is put the car in neutral and spin the rear wheels. If they both go the same way you have a posi. If the wheel on the other side spins in the opposite direction, you have a one legger. Of course you could always do a burn out to find the same result.

                    Just out of curiosity, I want to change my gears some time in the future. Will the stock LSD work with 3.73s?
