  • Convertered again! Definitely Do this!

Got my car back yesterday I have a aftermarket converter again. I must say I missed it and is a definite mod for ANY A4 wanting to go fast.

I've been through a lot of them, Haven't had a lot of time on this one, but like it so far.

    I've had
    Stock 1800 stall
custom 2800 stall (broke the lock up)
    stock 1800 stall
PI Vig 3500 (shredded every spline in it)
    stock 1800 stall
Yank 2800 stall now happy with it so far, hopefully this one holds together.

If this one breaks I'll be giving Edge a try.

Overall very happy so far with the yank 2800 converter, 3.42s, LSD.
Very easy to light them up and great power, I think it may flash a bit higher than 2800, but when brake stalling starts going around 2600.

why did you decide to go from a 3500 stall to a 2800 stall?

Mainly I got a good deal on the Yank converter.

I have run a tranny cooler since day 1 converter install.

I'll run the yank for a while and if I'm not making power near 2800 down the road I will probably upgrade to an edge 3000+

did you notice much of a MPG drop, i have been debating installing mine for a while because of that

ive heard that both with or without a lockup it will drop the MPG considerably

The efficiency of the converter will determine how much MPH you lose if any.

The Edge converters seem to keep traps pretty high, although I haven't ran the Yank yet!

I know with the PI Vig, and the custom one I was a touch slower on the top end, but nothing that the bottom didn't make up for 10 fold!

I'm very happy with my edge 2800 stall.

However, I do not run a tranny cooler and still have my 3.08 open. I can not WAIT to get my 3.42 LSD installed.

with my 3000 stall it hasnt been signifigantly affected, at least with normal driving. If you stay on gas hard, it will make a difference.
