where did N and R go?

I replaced the tranny filter on my camaro and it seemed to work just fine. However after I got out of class I tried to pull out of my parking space and the car wouldn't move, I put it in nuetral so I could push the car out and the car lurched forward, put it in park and I can hear that the engine is under load like its in drive and I have my foot on the brake, reverse has become a new parking gear, and when I have to back up I put the the car in gear turn the engine off and push. strangley enough 1 through OD work just fine. The guy at the tranny shop said it feels like the car is in 2 differnt gears at once and the linkage may be bent or busted, its going in tomarrow to be inspected. I know its not because of the new tranny fluid, because I had a fluid extange abaut a month and a half ago and It's been driving just fine ever since. My question is has any one here ever come across a problem like this?

Kind of sounds like the shifter has gotten to be 1 gear off. I've heard of that happening a couple times before...something to do with the linkage.

I'm also thinking that the forward gearset cluches may have fused together. I hope it's just the linkage, because my car is not worth the $1400 it'll take to rebuild the tranny.

well my trannys gone, the forward gearset clutched fused together which means if I want to go backwards or nuetral I'll have to pay about$1400 for a tranny rebuild. Any ways since I paid $1600 for the car I'm just going to sell it for cheap, look at the for sale form if your interested. For my next car I'm thinking about moving away from sports cars and getting a Volvo 850 once I get the cash together.

Umm.. you sure about that? Check the linkage man. take off the linkage and try putting it in neutral. Just mess around with the linkage while u try to move the driveshaft with your hand.

took it to a reputable tranmission shop, it's not the linkage
