Im about to buy a 95 z28 differential to put into my 98 camaro and i got a couple of questions. 1) Do all z28 diffs. come with 3.42 gears? If not, which year z28s come with the 3.42 gears or how can you tell the diffrence between which differential has the 3.42 gears. Also can a 94-97 z28 differential fit on a 98 camaro? Any feed back is appreciated.

When you say differential are you talking about the entire rear end or just a carrier?
93-97 have different rear brakes than 98-02
The manual V8's had 3.42's. Autos had 2.73 or 3.23
For 3.42 look for GU6 RPO code on the car. Or open the rear and spin the pinion flange three and a half times, the carrier should have made just a hair over one complete rotation.1994 Firebird 3.4<br />15.65 @ 86.8<br /><a href=\"http://www.funkz.net/firebird.htm\" target=\"_blank\">funkz.net/firebird</a><br /><a href=\"http://mywebpages.comcast.net/funkz/timeslips.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Timeslips</a>

Exactly, ring & pinion doesn't "come with" a lsd, it's a good bit more involved than just a carrier swap.1994 Firebird 3.4<br />15.65 @ 86.8<br /><a href=\"http://www.funkz.net/firebird.htm\" target=\"_blank\">funkz.net/firebird</a><br /><a href=\"http://mywebpages.comcast.net/funkz/timeslips.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Timeslips</a>
