Tach and Speedo inconsistency.

Here are the symptoms.
Driving on the highway @ about 2500rpm 4th gear (also happens in 3rd); hit the gas to speedup (a little hard to pass or just take off) the rev meter jump up real fast, hear the motor scream a litlle and then it comes down and car speeds up normally .. If i Hit the gas slowly it all works good tho. I should be able to punch it but it starts screaming like a lil b****.
chaged plugs, wires and a coil pack about 30k miles ago. does it sounds like fuel delivery issue by any chance ?? Help plz.

Currently i am @ 80k miles.

Checked with mustangeater.. looks like clutch is going ... this blows ...

I had the same thing on my 3.4L Put the car in 3rd gear and go about 25 mph... then hit the gas, if the revs goes up before the speed, it's your clutch.

Look at the bright side, you only have to replace the clutch. If it were an automatic doing that, you'd have to rebuild the damn tranny.

SOunds deffentially like your clutch is slipping. Go like 35 miles an hour and shift into 5th and floor it, your know if your clutch is slipping or not. Just put a excessive load on and it should bog or die.
