Tire/gear ratio/5-speed/what gear/trap speed question...

Basically ran the car nov 5th.

My car, 5-speed, with 3.23s

Either way, I was barely hitting hitting the rev limiter in 3rd, with 235/55/16 and trapping 94-95mph back in the day before clutch problems


I am running a differnet tire I got for dirt cheap now. Yokohama AVS ES100 245/50/16. I SWEAR I am hitting the rev limiter before the traps, in third. I was trapping 93-94ish mph Reason why I say, is I hit rev limiter before the win light went up.

Do you guys think its worth me to make the shift since I am already out fo the powerband, and now I am hitting the rev limiter?

When I ran 3.23's I would hit the rev limiter at ~98 mph

Can you extend your 1-2 and 2-3 shifts any further, or are you already shifting right at the limiter?

The 1-2 is at the limiter in fact I hit it alot. I might be able to extend the 2-3 longer it feels like I am going out of the power band.

Guess I should just expand.

Either make the shift to 4th or go back to a taller tire, like a 255/50.

when runnin stock tires, 5 speed, 3.23's, i was right at the redline for 3rd when i passed the 1/4, and i only traped at 91.5 mph

dont shift, it will slow down
