2000 Camaro M5...Alright guys here's the story. First of all, my clutch exploded (heard of this happening to others) at the worst possible time (while in the middle of PCS enroute to my next base(air force)). So I had to leave the car with my uncle. Anyway he helped me out by taking to car to a mechanic friend that he knew and the guy *supposedly* fixed everthing. He installed a new clutch, slave cylinder, throwout bearing, and some other stuff. If I had been at home I probably would have done it myself...well $650 later...

I've still got problems. The car drives fine...I do notice a little clutch chatter...not a big big deal but....I have a very hard time getting it into first gear. Even when completely stopped. I have to *start* in second a little to get it to go in or just put it in while I'm rolling slowly. I told the mechanic about it and he said that it was my tranny...but I never ever had the problem until HE changed out the clutch. What do you guys think it is? I gotta get this thing fixed...I'm being stationed in Germany in 6 months and this is the only car I have but it needs to work right...especially over there.

I don't think that the mechanic broke your trans. My opinion is you broke a synchro when you shattered the clutch. Either a teardown and rebuild of the trans, or a complete replacement.
It's probably easier & cheaper to replace it, but then again, you really don't know what you're buying when it's already been used.
