  • So I ran into a hiccup with rear swap... any tips...

    well just noticed something I didn't catch earlier...


    apparently a '02 ws6 rear has 2 seperate abs sensors, one for each wheel.

    while a my '00 does not, has a single sensor over the diff. I guess apparently v6 rears are different then v8s in more then one way.


    Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    The V8 rear you got has traction control, that's why there's 2 sensors. If it didn't have TC (like your old one), it would only have 1.

      doh!

      so any suggestions?


      looks like I got a couple options options...

      -do some sort of conversion to traction control

      -run no sensors in teh rear and figure it out

      -drill a hole in teh top of the diff housing, pull out the diff, put a abs ring on the diff, put it all back in.

      -swap the gears to my old diff, move my abs reluctor ring to the new diff or keep it on my current diff and slap it all in there.

        ok cool looks like I can jsut hook it up to read on sensor.

        I'll just slap it on and figure abs sensor issue out later ;)


        PS so much easier removing suspension parts of my '00 then back in teh day from my 94.

          Like that last link suggested, you could just hook up the ABS sensor to one of the wheel speed sensors and leave the other unplugged.

              Did that work?? No ABS lights or anything?? Cause i think the PCM wouldnt recognize that little gear as opposed to the reluctor wheel...

                haven't checked it yet...

                I plan to figure it out later. I am assuming I will have to use one for the new rear.

                  I don't think the EBTCM will even know the difference. It won't know if the sensor it's reading is in the diff housing or on a certain wheel.

                    You won't have a problem. The connector for the single is the same as the dual channel - just missing 2 wires.

                    The brake lines are a different story. You will need a flaring tool and cut your old fittings off your old rear to reuse on the new rear lines. Check out my site for details.

                      I just swapped all my hardlines over, no issues. But I need to do something about the sensor.

                        Haha sorry, forgot you already had rear discs. Swapping all the hardlines isn't an option for drums. The fittings don't match up.

                        After the conversion my system seems to read from the left sensor just fine.
