• any clutch install tips?

been doing some searching just wanted to see if you guys had any tips.

anything better then haynes/Chilton's tip of

    Step 1, disconnect the battery
Step 2, put transmission back in car.

also on a 2000 can you do the bell housing first(disconnected from the tranny) then put the tranny on the bellhousing? Or no?

nevermind on that, I was informed by a wonderful person that the slave threads through the tranny itself.

You'll need someone to give a hand, and plenty of beeer!

This link is for a V8, but it gives you an idea of what's involved and the steps to take. Before doing this, go to autozone or advance auto and get a clutch-line removal tool (could also be described as a fuel line removal tool). It's about $4 and it's worth it!

Pft, he's a big guy, I'm sure he can pull the tranny himself.

ACK! All you had to do was ask! I offered at least 3 times!

total I had 7 20 packs of beer from the beer war thing after Katrina hit!

I had a good 30-40 beers on hand!

BTW, I am already a pro at the clutch line with 2 flathead screw drivers, so no worries there.

Matt I did get one tip from Jenn, jack up on the crank shaft pulley and angle the motor upwards, so you have more room to work with.

And honestly the transmission felt lighter today. I pulled the bellhousing put the new slave on, and put it back on. Would have save me ~10 min if I had a hand but still doable with one person.

btw as wierd as it sounds... I wonder if it would be easier to raise the car a little more, climb under the tranny, and lift and manuever it like I was doing a bench press.

            Lift+3 people+ tranny jack= cake walk.

I hope you took lots of pics and are going to do a writeup, I'd like to see this all the way through for myself just in case I gotta do it in about 10k miles, living in the big city with lots of fast moving traffic I am doing some pretty hard shifts lately.. :D

a tip, just get a slide hammer... took like 2 min to get it out, not sure of any other way to get it out with ease.
