  • dumb question ........................again

if you put a ,lets say 3400 stall converter,is it until you press the gas and reaching 3400 rpm will the car start moving??? and at the wheels wich one has the most horse power ? the manual or the automatic???

ok...if you dont go WOT then your car will still move like normal, as far as i know, its only at WOT that it launches at 3400, and thats a pretty dang steep tc. If you mean a4 vs m5 trannys then the manual puts more to the ground, but if you get a shift kit, and a tc you will be able to beat at least 85% of m5s

You won't have to rev it up to 3400rpm in order to get the car to move, if your foot is off the brake it will start to move before that. At what rpm? I dunno, but it's not going to move much at 1000 or 1500 rpm. The purpose of a high stall converter is to be able to hold the brake and rev the engine up to get a better launch rpm. High stall converters are not as efficient for daily drivers and gas mileage will suffer somewhat. 3400 stall seems huge to me for a street car.

Manuals are always more efficient than automatics. They get more power to the ground and better gas mileage. Manuals are kind of a pain in stop-n-go traffic though, and it's much harder to be consistant at the drag strip with a manual.
