  • Transmission problems...HELP!!!

    Im lookin into gettin this SS that a local dealer has and a few things bothered me when I test drove the car....

    1) The transmission will pop out of 3rd gear when coming to a stop if downshifting into third, let out the cluth while in 3rd, and then it will just pop out....what the heck??? could it be the linkage, syncros, or the shift stopper(you know, the thing to keep you from over-shifting into gear) could that thing be adjusted wrong???

    It does have the Hurst short throw in it if that helps answer my question....

    It could be the shifter stops.

      It is definelty the shifter stops!! I had the same problem. I ended up just taking them out entirely, I kept having to fix it every month or so......

        I have this problem with my second gear, and this week, it just started grinding before it pops out- do you think its still just the shifter stops, or do you think something else is now wrong as well?

            If you are looking into it, tell the dealer to fix it and stop worrying!
            Might be synchro problem.
