Just curious whos done the 2 piece -> 1 piece (aluminum or steel) driveshaft swap and how big of a difference it really was. Just curious if I want to do this next or my 1LE kit...

I swapped in a 1 piece aluminum. I didn't really 'notice' a difference but on paper, its there. What I did notice is that the drivetrain got quieter.

      I couldn't tell the difference...

I went 2 piece to 1 piece steel but I also did 3.42s, and lsd, so I got lots of gains, but hard to tell from what.

I went to 1-piece aluminum. The only difference I felt was the weight when pulling the old one out. ;) Performance-wise I felt more from a set of underdrive pullies.

Ive done it. Seemed like a little quicker response between toucing the pedal and feeling the car act accodringly.

You wont notice a difference. The two piece seems to vibrate a bit more, especially with a poly trans mount. The two peice is designed only to be quiet and smooth, and sucks for performance etc..

I just swapped from a 1pc steel to aluminum, and even with a stock 1pc. I could feel an improvement in acceleration and response. I say do it.

are there any parts other than the dirveshaft that need to be replaced when doing the swap?

Throttle response was better, that's about it. I did 2 piece to 1 piece aluminum. I didn't replace anything when swapping but the torque arm was a pita. Don't take the torque arm off unless you absolutly have to. You shouldn't have to replace anything unless the joints look in bad shape.

There is NO reason to take the torque arm off. The top bolt for the bracket in the center of the 2-piece is a PITA to get on, but not nearly worth the hassle of taking the torque arm off.

More vibration but overall good mod, I had to switch, I broke my stock 2 peice at the track.

Do it. Easy swap, just don't let the DS hit you, and if you can, lean the car forward, as you'll leak fluid out the back. I.e. jack the car up rear only, so you can spin the rear tires, etc.
