What Would a New Clutch and Shifter Do for me?

I'm running some pretty decent power out of my car right now, and i don't think the clutch can handle the close to 300+ hp i'm putting out with it right now. There's nothing really wrong with the stock one, but i do miss 3rd gear occasinally, is that a sign of clutch wear? will a Performance clutch help me use my power more efficiently? In other words, will it make me faster. I'm not talking hp gains, i'm asking will it be noticably better than the stock? will it help my 1/4 mile times?
