  • Series 2 carrier gear spacer good idea?

I currently have a series 2 carrier, and want to know if the spacer that places sell for like $50.00 is a good idea so that i can run series 3 gears in my series 2 carrier. BTW series 2 gears are way to expensive. What is everyone's thoughts on this. Will this not be strong or fall apart on me, or does it not matter?

Looks to me like a $50 spacer plus buying some 3 series gears costs more than just buying a set of gears for a 2 series carrier.

well last time i checked series 2 gears are $180.00 - $225.00. Now series 3 i can buy from onedangerousv6 for 50 + 50 for the spacer. If you know somewhere to get em let me know, btw i do watch ebay, and didn't have much luck, i want 3.37's

you didnt have much luck because you want 3.73's not 3.37's.
Id spend the money to get NEW 2-series gears, but thats just me. They are only like $15 more than new 3-series.

sorry, i meant 3.73's, but the whole point is being able to buy them used. the question is will the setup with the spacer hold up,(meaning come loose or fall apart) or no?

are you putting them in a series 2 OPEN carrier? or did you find a series 2 posi unit that you are installing as well?
I wouldnt say that the spacer is an ideal setup by any means, but will probably suffice for what you want it to do.

its a series 2 POSI carrier, with slotted/driller discs from a 95 Z, but unfortunately it has 2.73's. I guess i will just order the 3.73's in the series 2 thick gear.
