My assumption is that if it's for the 4L60E than we can use it. As for what it is and what it does, I have no idea. This place came up a couple of weeks ago in a discussion. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm They have tons of things for our trans, hopefully. They have a billet servo that is suppose to be better than the Corvette servo. Maybe you could contact someone, like this site and ask them. Where's strange_trp when you need him?
I've wanted to look into this transmission business but not until I have enough money to do everything that I want. When I have the money then I will start getting the info for our tranny's and what all that stuff is for and will do. Or hey, you could find out for me and post your findings here.

It's just a Kevlar band... I wouldn't replace it unless your trans was slipping.
If you desire firm shifts, Get a TransGo Shift Kit, have it installed at stage 3 and also get a corvette servo.. your 1-2 shift will be PLENTY firm, trust me on that.
The 2-3 will be firm, much firmer than stock but no way near the 1-2 shift...
There are 2 servo's inside your transmission, one on the outside thats easy to replace (The 1-2, 3-4 servo, it does both shifts).. and the 2-3 servo is on the inside...
I would like to get my 2-3 servo changed but I only think you can buy the part from the dealer.. If you are REALLY that interested in doing this, go to the dealer with a V8 VIN (Similar year to yours).. and ask them for the part # for the servo assembly on the inside of the trans.. it will take quite a bit of looking.. just make sure he pulls up the 2-3 servo and not the 1-2 servo.
I'm not sure if its just one part or several parts or a kit... if you do this you'd be the first. Let me know how it goes. lol
Also, I'm moving this to General Tech.

Tranny slippage could be caused by so many things.... there are several bands in the trans too, not just one.
As for the billet servo, it might make the shifts even firmer but let me tell you... my shifts are already DAMN firm with just a corvette servo and a transgo stage 3.
I'd say just get the corvette servo.

Would a Corvette servo or a shift kit degrade the reliability of any drive train components?
