LSD Installation Question

Once LSD is installed in your F-body does the computer need to be recalibrated? Probly a stupid question but i plan on doing this soon. Thanks in advance.

Hey dude, for a safe bet huh? Just because you dont understand what changes your odometer does not mean you should offer bad advice to someone.

If he did not change a gear ratio then he did not change anything other than now having a LSD rear end. HE did not specifiy if he changed gear ratio or not so I guess your psychic abilities are coming in again and he must have changed those gears for you to tell him to recalibrate that speedo just in case huh?

I thought about changing them out but it came with 3.42 stock without the LSD and I don't know if 3.73's would be too much for my car. Plus I like the performance the 3.42's are giving me.

I personally thing 3.42's are *perfect* for our cars and I wouldn't go any shorter unless you planned to make it non-streetable and just wanted the drag capabilities...

With as broad a torque band as we have, 3.42s with a good torque converter should eat 3.73s...

Odometer? Who cares if he's racking up miles. An Odometer is not a speedometer Mr. Knowledge FREAK. You need to do some research before you go talking throwing out wrong info.

now your getting really funny, you know what i meant. Point is Lsd has nothing to do with rpms or speedometer readings or odometer readings because YES that is affected also. If he changed gears then he may decide to do that otherwise he is wasting his time.

3.73's feel right at home on my car's rear end. I'd say 5-speed's feel better with the 3.73's than an A4 would, especially at cruising speeds. Alot of people say once you drop in those gears that your top end will be gone and I dont know what else...I still drive around at 70-75mph and my RPM's arent revved at all. They are still around 2,000-2,300. I've picked up 115mph no problem also. I will tell you one thing..with those 3.73's and that LSD in the rear, world of difference in acceleration. Especially in the way the car kicks when you shift gears. [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]

Wait a minute ... I'm at 2500 for 80 mph with what's stock (3.23's on my open diff base 5-speed) ... how could you have 3.73's and only 2300 at 75? Seems like it would be a little more ... I know it's only a 3.73/3.23 = 15% difference ... well, I guess that's 300 rpm ... so my 80 would be 2800ish ...
