transmission question

I'm looking at buying an 88 scottsdale 4x4 with a 350 and an auto trans. The truck has 203,000 miles on it. I test drove it and the trans. kind of hesitates when shifting from 1st to 2nd. But, 2nd to 3rd feels fine. He had the transmission rebuilt around 1,000 miles ago. He has the receipt where he paid 800 dollars for it. Do you think there is something going wrong with the trans or is there an adjustment for it. He's asking 4,500 for the truck. Do you think this is a good deal?

most likley it's the vacuum modulator on the trans mission, either the vacuum line is leaking or the modulator is bad. either way it's a 15.00
or less part and might take 15 mins to replace.
depending on the condition of the rest of the truck it could be a good deal.make sure to put it into 4hi and 4lo to confirm the transfer case is working as well as all the other used car checks.
