Quick story, then to my question. My dad has a 99 S10 2.2L I4 w/ A4, and he's got only 59k miles on it. He's got the expensive extended warranty and everything. Well, lately his tranny has been slipping, so he took it to the dealer. They said they won't do anything about it because he didn't come to them and get the tranny fluid replaced at 50k miles. Not changing the tranny fluid then would not have made any differnece, its a freakin 2.2L!!! no hard accelerations, no powerful torque! Those people are @ss holes.

OK sorry, now to my questions: does he have the 4L60E or a different GM transmission?
What can i do to fix it, whether its a 4L60E or something else.
If its a 4L60E, can a shift kit or servos firm up his shifts?

I don't know too much about automatic tranny's, i have a 5 speed. I'd apperciate as much input as possible.

Regardless of whether or not it's a 2.2L I4 or a 4.3L V6, the transmission needs to be serviced regularly. The trans, like anything else, gets warm from use, the fluid heats up, and overtime, it breaks down & gets dirty. It's as simple as that. If the tranny has been serviced before, take it back to wherever it was serviced & let them take a look at it. Depending upon when it was last serviced, it may already need to be serviced again.

Appreciate the response, but that wasn't my question, sorry, I was just venting. Going 9k over the 50k scheduled tranny fluid change is only like going 500 mi past your 3k scheduled oil change. Its nothing that would an immediate threat to components, although i would never that far without an oil change. My point is, they were just trying to find an excuse not to honor the warranty, like most dealerships.

Back to my quesion, is it a 4L60E?
