    i have a '96 rs and i was wondering if it's possible to replace the double drive shaft with a single aluminum one?

    yes its possible.
    I just did mine 3 weeks ago and it works great.I used my buddy's steel DS from his 95 Trans Am. It weighs 17lbs compared to our stock two piece which was28 lbs. And I now have a higher trap speed in the 1/4 mile.I picked up 4 mph

      You can also order an aluminum 1LE shaft from the same year and have an even lighter driveshaft.
