  • Torque Converter Lock Down Switch Question

I posted this in drivetrain a few days ago and didn't get any responses, so I may have put this in the wrong section.

Which wires do I splice to make a torque converter lock down switch. I want to be able to keep it unlocked because it keeps locking and unlocking randomly on the interstate when i let off the gas. (either splice a switch in or completly remove, as I would rather lose gas mileage then be bumped around like crazy)

    Thanks

Well, you could disconnect the torque converter solenoid inside the transmission. It normally allows the fluid just to flow through, when the PCM energizes it, it engages the lockup. I don't know what the wire color is for the transmission harness.

The PCM won't like it though. It will through a code, and it may not shift into 4th gear once the transmission is warm if it thinks the solenoid isn't responding.

I believe you have a chance of a post-'85 700R-4 switch working. Not sure which wires you'd need to splice to do so without a kit.

Check with Summit Racing, their staff may have something for you not posted in the catalog.
