  • Need opinions on next mod.........

Ok everyone...here's my situation.....99 camaro coupe, auto W/Open End 3.08's. I Just bought my Eaton Posi With 3.73 gears which will be installed next week. My plan for next week also will be buying a stall converter.

    What size would everyone recommend?

Keep in mind I drive my car 3 out of 4 seasons and pretty much daily but still want to launch the S*** out of it at track. Nothing has been done to the tranny except a good flush and filter change. I do have the corvette servo going in soon and maybee a shift kit.

Honestly with lock-up you shouldn't have a problem daily driving with any converter.

I have had my stock, a custom 2800 stall, PI Vig 3500, and now I have a PI VIG 3800 waiting to go in.

The 3500 I had no problem daily driving with it!

I would not go less than 3000 for performance, also I am selling my PI Vig 3500(cheap) that was freshly rebuilt from PI if your interested check for sale! ;)

120.00....then I will have to spend about 100.00 on shim pack and 250.00 for installation.

When doing drivetrain stuff, It's better to do as much as u can at once so that labor costs go down. I would suggest doing a TC, servo, Shift kit, and driveshaft all at once since the DS needs to come out neways, and so does the Tranny.

For a TC, I like how the Edge Racing converters at set up. I like the way they use carbon fiber in the construction of some of their TC's, meaning less rotating mass and mroe free hp to the wheels. The specs I'd get for a TC would be 2.5 str, 97% efficient, and then have it stall wherever u want it to stall at, probly 2800-3200.

There are several choices with Driveshafts. I like carbon fiber personally because of the 5% or so gain in hp, but the 1LE aluminum is cheaper, and still gives u 2-3% gains in hp.

The shift kit and servo would prevent any sloppy shifts that may occur from the new TC, so doing it all together is a good idea.

I'd expect 1/4 gains ranging from .5-.75 seconds, depending on the other mods u have done, and how well u can launch and drive ur car.
