i am almost ready to drop my auto tranny from my car, but i need help with 3 bolts- the little bolt that is holding the tranny fluid dipstick to the engine block, and the two top front transmission bolts. they are too far up and i am having trouble getting the socket on there. i can get the socket itself on, but the ratchet wont fit onto the socket. any advice, and what has everyone else done?

Don't worry about the dipstick tube. Just leave it attached to the block. When you drop the transmission down, it will pull out of the transmission, and when you jack the new tranny up, the dipstick will just slide right in.
The top two bolts are a pain. I used a craftsman swivel socket, and two 20" socket extensions.
Good luck.\'96 Camaro Convertible

the swivel socket and long long extensions work real well, i disagree with just letting the tube pop out and it will easily slide right in, sometimes it can be a pita just unbolt it, i unbolted mine like 3 times it doesnt take too longLongtubes, true duals, ram air, caspers tps tec, ls1 26lb injectors, supersix powerpack, heads milled .020, comp cam .507 220/224 114 ls, forged internals and chromeoly pushrods, bored .030 over, tb spacer, tranny built with stiffer springs and kevlar bands, bigger servo, transgo stage 3 shift kit, edge 3600 stall, 1 pc aluminum ds, 3.73 superior gears, lsd rear ,custom pcm tuning, walbro 255 in tank,

The bolts on the top are a pain in the arse. You can try a long extension with swivel, or swivels, as stated above, but its hard to get torque on that long of an extension and swivel. You need soemone to hold the socket and soemone to crank on the ratchet. Other thing you can do which is much more elaborate but could possibly save you time is to get at it from above. You can just barely reach it from behind the intake, right at the firewall. You might ned to remove the coil packs to get to the pass side. Its a tight fit either way, just dont give up and try not to break the bellhousing.

well i got em off without too much trouble. i used a 20" extension, the swivel socket, and another swivel right below that and it worked pretty well. the tranny is out now, the new one will go in tonighthttp://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/483076
TSP rumbler, straight pipe, corvette servo.
Soon - 3.42+lsd,headers, cai,
