Im guessing you mean all you got so far was the actual ring and pinion. If this is the case then you will also need a gear install kit.I got mine from thunder racing.com.I got the complete gear install kit. Cost like 100 bucks.Youll find it in the v6 drivetrain section. Also if you got 3.08's now (GU4) then you have a 2 series carrier.3.23or hire is a 3 series carrier.Well hope I helped you out.Oh yea, an its worth every penny!!! I actually feel like I got a somewhat fast car now.All together I spent 700 $ for parts and install.I dropped close to half second in quarter mile. How much time do you dropp with 4 grand supercharger?(thats not including install price)Maybe second and a half tops???Dollar to performance ratio pretty good for the 3.42'sPowerdyne 98 a4 convert

stock 16.6 @ 86

6 lbs boost 15.1 @ 90

04 A4 2.73 geared white Corvette Coupe

stock- 13.5 @ 103

LS6 conversion-13.1 @ 107
http://members.cardomain.com/greenglow98 ( pics of intercooled powerdyne)

Why buy one if the old carrier already has one? You just use a torch to heat up the ring and allow it to expand then you slowly tap it with the handle of a hammer to get it off. Then you flip the new carrier over and put the ring on the same way you took it off the old one. Heat then tap. Be sure to look at the ring as it is grooved on one side. If you don't put it back on the same way then you will need to take it off again.
Edit: Almost forgot. Screw SLP and everyone that works for them.

Nope, I think you are correct.
All manual's got the 323 gears, 3 series carrier and possibly limited slip.
So, you are going from 323's to 342's?Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Don't put the diff in until you have the money and BUY the install kit with new bearings and super shims. As I said before. It is VERY IMPORTANT to get the correct backlash on the ring and pinion. If you don't you could get a whine and/or loose your new gears. If you insist on installing, it would be a good idea to buy a new pinion bearing(the old one may fall apart if you try to take it off the old pinion). You will also need a new crush sleeve and a new lock nut for the pinion.\" As being is to becoming, so is pure itellect to opinion, so is science to belief, and understanding to the peception of shadows.\" - Plato
