Aluminum drive shaft question

ok nothaving a ton of cash to blow on my car this summer, i was thinkin this migh tbe somethin to consider, just to get it done, i know of a very large salvage yard about 45 minutes from my college that has a 96 or 97 Trans Am that had an engine fire, i was wonder will this drive sahft fit my car, a 99, or do i neeed a shaft froma 98+ T/A

If it is aluminum, it will fit.

yessum, steel or aluminum, it doesn't matter, as long as it came from a 3rd-4th gen f-body, you'll be clear. You will just need the driveshaft, everything else fits just fine.

a 96/97 would be a LT1, which has a steel driveshaft not an aluminum one as far as i know, and either will fit

oook, i'd have 2 agree w/ ur friend in the background(the way he's lookin at u). enough said. i never knew a 82-92 ds would fit in a 93+. that sounds like something worth lookin into.

I believe that the 96/97 driveshaft might be aluminum(If the car has the 1LE package).

The 1LE driveshaft is 2.75" diameter whereas the LS1 is 3" for a little extra strength.

Both are aluminum though :D

Not all 96-97 lt1 come with a steel ds.
