• Has anyone ever tried this?

I am not sure if it would do anything. But has anyone with an A4 ever tried racing starting with the 2nd Gear Start thing. Im not sure if it would really do anything and im not sure if it would be bad for the tranny but maybe give better traction or something. Just wanted to see if anyone has ever tried this.

no I haven't but if you floor it with second gear start on it automatically shifts into 1st gear anyways

well... I do it but I'm not sure if it helps or not or if it's bad for the tranny. well alot help that was lol
seriously though it certainly FEELS like it has more power, and in the manual it says the lower gears give you more power with less gas mileage (gas is last thing on my mind while racing) I've had many people tell me it helps and about the same tell me it makes no diff. If you think it helps I think you should do it :D

2nd gear start was designed for driving from a stop in poor traction conditions like snow.

You should not use it for racing as you want to be in the lowest gear possible to get those wheels spinning.

Imagine you're on a hill on your bike and you have a choice between starting in 1st or 10th(I'm trying to draw a realistic comparison because there are fewer gears in the car).

Which gear would you be able to accelerate the fastest in?

1st, no question.

I've only heard of one person on here who's done that racing and it was because he was having terrible wheel hop and traction problems and wanted to salvage a day out at the track. Even he wouldn't advise doing it as a means to fix your traction issues ongoing
