I am not going to be biased in this discussion.
I want the best for the v6 community.
I do NOT want to see people calling each other names or whatever.
Please list your car, brand of converter, effeciency, torque multiplication factor, current gearing, cost of converter, et's w/ stock and aftermarket converter, and before and after 60 foot's, and also mph reduction from stock to aftermarket converter
Ok, I have a 1997 firebird
I run a Pro Yank 3200 nitrous converter
The effeciency is 95.5 to 96% at 5800 rpm's
I have a 2.8 torque multiplication factor
I run 323 gears
My converter cost $700!!
Previous et's with stock converter were 15.2 to 15.3 at englishtown
My current best with pro yank is 14.4's with typical 14.5's
I was running 2.3 60 foots with the stock converter
I usually now see mid to low 1.9 60 foot's
Stock converter I was seeing a best of just under 93 mph (I never broke the 93 barrier)
Aftermarket converter I see just under 92 mph (I have never broke the 92 barrier)
I gained the following (compare best possible times):
.4 reduction in the 60 foot times
.8 reduction in the 1/4 et's
I have lost 1 mph from stock to aftermarket
Discussion area:
I am very happy with my converter. My gearing choice is NOT optimal for et's and 60's n/a. I bought a nitrous converter which on the bottle can stall to 3600. My gearing is for my nitrous times. I have only hooked once and only once on the bottle to a best of 1.631. I spin all the damn time on nitrous. I do run a tranny cooler with this set up.
$700 is a big complaint with this brand, and I do understand this.
When I called them mine was made specifically for my car. I gave them vehicle weight, gearing, tire height, dyno numbers, peak hp, peak tq, purpose of useage etc.
I should have new et drag's very soon, so maybe new 60 ft's on the bottle shortly
Anyone else?
