  • 3.42s w/ no lsd

    I want to get 3.42s but i have 3.08s so i have a series 2 carrier. i was gonna just get the strange gears and have 3.42s untill i can find a series 2 lsd. would i have to much prob. with spinning since i won't have lsd??

    if your car is anything but stock, you'll spin off the line if u floor it. I had 3.42's before I put lsd in and it was really easy to spin the tires, even w/ 255-50-ZR16 kumho's on.

      i have dynomax exhaust, and slp cai. i've been told by thunder that it would be to hard to use a series three carrier lsd b/c of abs. i was just gonna get the strange gears. unless anyone knows a cheap series 2 lsd.

        The LSD takes place of the carrier. The things you need to do a complete gear swap are as follows:

        Gears (3.42), buy series 3 gears, take the 2 series back

        LSD, you can get one at SLPonline.com for $100

        ABS Reluctor Ring, @ slponline $20, maintains usage of the ABS system in your car

        Install kit ~$130

        Gear oil, get full synthetic like redline or Royal Purple.

        Either install it youself or go to a shop and get it done for no more than $250.

          I have factory 3.42's without posi and i have no problem hooking them up. they don't spin much at all. i have Dayton Daytona ZR tires 245/50/16's. They hook up right away. If i power brake it i can spin 'um. [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]
          Custom Ram Air, High flow cat, Dynomax cat back exhaust, high flow air box. More to come. hopefully Cam:D

            if u go to a shop u dont need an install kit. They will have everything they need there.

              Not always, but they can get install kits. It depends on the shop.

                thunder told me that i can't just put the series 3 lsd in my car b/c it won't hook up?? what does the abs reluctor thing do?? they guys from thunder have totally confused me b/c i thought i could just change the differential, but they say i can't.
