I put the shifter in last summer and I absolutely loved it!! There's just one thing bugging me about it. I'm not sure if this is because of the shifter or not (I put the shifter in the 2nd day I had my car) so I'm not sure if it that. When putting the car in first gear, while sitting still, it sometimes is difficult. I either have to roll a little in either direction or really smash it in there. Any of you have this problem? With or without a new shifter?
I don't think the aftermarket shifter is the problem. Every manual tranny car I've ever had (including my Bird, with stock and Hurst shifter) has had the same problem, I've always just thrown it into neutral, released the clutch and tried again, or shift into other gears before trying first, etc.
2002 Firebird <br />Mods: Whisper CAI and Lid, K&N, Edelbrock Cat-Back, Hurst Billet Plus Shifter w/Lou\'s Short Stick, BMR STB, 32mm front sway bar w/polygraphite bushings and end links, PHB polygraphite bushings, HPP3 tuned
This is a common tremec issue - my car doesn't do this usually because I row through my gears a lot rather than skip them, but its a problem with the T56 and T5
Just gotta learn to give it a good shove
I have the same shifter and the same problem. Althoughh mine is more difficult to get into reverse but I do recall having that same difficulty befor I put in the shifter. Although if it was the shifter it is still a small sacrafice for such a great shifter!
