  • changing outer wheel bearings

i got the wheel bearing KIT(has the bearing race and seal, replaces the outer end of axle) and i was wondering how do you get the old outer housing out of the main axle tube

I don't have it in front of me but I believe the Haynes manual tells you to simply use the end of the axle shaft as a lever to pry the old race out with.

Using the end of the axle is not a good idea, I don't care what Haynes says. You should use a slide hammer.

Thanks for reminding me, I forgot about this thread. You're right, it wasn't the bearing itself but just the seal they show using the axle shaft to get out.
