Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

Anybody know where i can get a carbon fiber drive shaft? also, whats the difference in weight between the carbon fiber and our stock cars. i know we have heavy *** cars, any lightness would be cool.

They are definitely lighter, by 14-16lbs if I remember correctly, but ill-advised for our cars on the street. Do a search in the drivetrain forum on this one.. .there was a really good discussion about it about a month ago I think?

an Al driveshaft showed a 1 HP gain or somethign terribly small... the only way this is a worth wide mod is if you have a two piece other wise not worth it.

acpt sells carbon fiber driveshafys for our cars. soveral websites sell them. www.tbyrne.com i think sells them as well as www.lgmotorsports.com I started the topic a month ago about re-doing my entire drivetrain, including adding in a cf ds. everyone thinks that a little pebble could hit it and totally destroy the ds. i seriously doubt that, and i will still probly go w/ a cf ds someday when I get the cash.

Would it be better than aluminum?: Yes

By very much?: No

Is it cost efficient in retrospect to the alu?: No

Is it sturdy?: Yes

Will a pebble shatter it? Certainly not!

Should I buy it?: If money is no option and u want only the best of the best regardless of price then yes

I've seen a shattered one!
It weighs nothing, 6-7 pounds?
The benifits of carbon fiber d/s are:
Weight reduction obviously
Also, carbon fiber will have a slight flex to it compared to aluminum. It will slightly absorb the off the line shock to the rear tires thus allowing hooking to occur slightly easier.
The d/s I held was in a car, either a pebble hit it or it nicked something under the car when it was rotating and it completely sheered in 2!!!
Not for a street car, track only
