• Tranny Died, what to do

Hey guys i have a 1998 Camaro Auto with 145k miles on it. The transmission is goin out and im wondering weather to buy a standard or auto transmission. I want manual really bad but im not shure how much it would cost to convert it. Would it be more affordable to just throw in another automatic. Take into consideration that im only 17 and dont have a lot of money to spend here, but i really do want my car to be a manual. Can anyone help me out?

if you ever plan to go fast, the manual is not where you want to be. on top of that it's a lot of work and sourcing of parts which might mean you spend a lot of money.

it would be pretty affordable (less than $1000) to buy another used automatic and put it in on your driveway/garage/etc.

That would be a time comsuming job, and cost ya more cash then a used tranny. Is it worth it to you? If your a big drag guy then you probally want to stick with the auto. If you autocross or just plain drive your car and enjoy it you probally want the m5.

My cars are all manuals, but I don't drag very often, I take corners ect. So in my instance the manaul is perfect, plus I just enjoy driving it.

If your just a casual drag guy, then having a manual is fine, only hardcore dragers need autos
